THREE CHEERS TO JANELLE LEHMAN
Mrs. Lehman's class read The Sign of the Beaver wherein a 12 year-old, Matt, is befriended by Indians while waiting months for his father to return to their cabin in the wilderness. The father left his son to return to Massachusetts to get Matt's mother and sister. In the 18th century, Matt didn't know whether to be adopted by the Indians or to wait with hope for his family to return. Mrs. Lehman had her students work in pairs and small groups to create a fake texting conversation between the main characters depicting how different the situation could have been with the use of modern technology. Mrs. Lehman's students did a great job!
KUDOS TO PAM SULLIVAN, DALE MITCHELL, RAY KLEIN AND MELISSA WARGA
Lots of cool stuff happening at LMS
Lots of cool stuff happening at LMS
Mrs. Sullivan's students became owners of a Snowman Construction Co. They created snowmen calculating cost and weight with set money amounts and shipping requirements. They used Google Docs to create a receipt containing the info and shared with their teacher.
Mr. Mitchell's Science classes were researching scientists. He created an activity where the students worked in pairs and each one acted as a scientist and they used a "fake texting" app to create a text message conversation between the scientists to share what they had learned.
Mr. Klein's class did a study of major world religions. After completing the unit, the students created slides to demonstrate their learning. The students loved the assignment!
Mrs. Warga's students had a lot of FUN practicing grammar pronoun skills! Using a new online program, the students were able to select their interests - athletes, teams, movie stars, authors, presidents, musicians, friends, pets, etc. After selecting their interests, their lessons were personalized for each one of them creating unique sentences for them to correct. Now that's a way to make grammar practice more fun!

Louisville Elementary had a SUCCESS-FULL week!
Mrs. Radalia implemented the OSMO Game System with her students. OSMO engages students by making learning fun while also providing a challenge. Mrs. Radalia had students creating objects with tangrams, building words with letters based on corresponding pictures, and practicing sound and letter recognition. Mrs. Kruse and Mr. Vanicek sent their students on a WebQuest using their Chromebooks. The WebQuest was one of the final activities associated with the historical fiction novel, Number the Stars, by Lois Lowry. The novel is about the escape of a Jewish family from Copenhagen during World War II.
